Terran Empire

Owing to the sheer number of Mirror Universe vessels in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly II", only those which had a part in the story are taken into account. The opening credits, which are clearly meant to be authentic records of the Terran Empire, show several vessels in addition to that, including the warp ship that, unlike in the standard credits, fires at the moon surface, an early Klingon BoP, a Hazari design and some Xindi ships.

General description

The Mirror Constitution is virtually identical to its counterpart in our universe. Some details are slightly different.

Known ships

ISS Enterprise NCC-1701
USS Defiant NCC-1764

Annotations

  1. The Mirror ISS Enterprise seen in TOS: "Mirror, Mirror" was most likely labeled "USS Enterprise NCC-1701". In other words, while the interior was modified with Terran Empire symbols (globe and sword) and other details, no change was made to the ship miniature. Yet, we can see that the Mirror Enterprise is represented by the second-pilot version of the model (note the nacelle spires, the bigger dish and the taller dome). As usual, "our" Enterprise could be seen only from the starboard side in the episode, whereas the port side of the Mirror ship was shown. The port side of the model could not be illuminated, however. The effect was accomplished by filming the starboard side (stock footage from "Where No Man Has Gone Before"), reversing the image and reversing back the nacelle decals.
  2. The USS Defiant that pops up in the Mirror Universe in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly I", on the other hand, correctly corresponds with the series version of the Enterprise, as previously seen in TOS: "The Tholian Web". It is unknown how the ship class could "de-evolve" to the ISS Enterprise that is in service over 100 years later.
  3. While I silently assume that the class prototype was the ISS Constitution, I think that anything more would be pointless speculation. The possible existence of a refit of the starship is just as tentative as the specs of the Mirror Universe vessel.
  4. In the remastered TOS episode the Mirror Universe Enterprise is represented by a CGI model of the pilot version with all according detail changes.

Known ships

ISS Enterprise NX-01
ISS Avenger NX-09

Annotations

  1. The Mirror-NX class appeared in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly I+II". Aside from the "ISS" prefix, the additional hull decoration and slight changes to the interior the starship class is visually identical to the one from our universe. But as author Mike Sussman confirmed, the ship is supposed to be more advanced than its counterpart from our universe, as the existence of a tractor beam shows. Also, the computers have voice interface.
  2. The correct translation of the inscription on the Avenger patch is "The bold (are) the fortune of the Empire" and absolutely not anything like "The Empire is bold and fortunate", which can still be found on several websites.

NX escape pod

General description

The Mirror-NX is equipped with a number of escape pods.

Known shuttles

No name given

Annotations

The escape pods, at least those visible in "In a Mirror, Darkly I", are located behind break-away plates on D-deck. On the NX of our universe the seemingly closed ring of escape pods would be in conflict with several windows. In the DVD commentary of the episode Mike Sussman suggests that only the Mirror version has these escape pods, one of several technologies the Terran Empire may have stolen from the Vulcans. In ENT: "Shuttlepod One", however, it becomes clear that "our" Enterprise has escape pods too, although they may look different.

The T'Plana Hath also existed in the Mirror Universe.

Known ships

T'Plana Hath

Annotations

Unlike it was in "Star Trek: First Contact" in our universe, the Mirror Cochrane shot the Vulcan who approached him in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly I", and the humans took possession of the vessel and of the advanced Vulcan technology.

Unknown warp ship

General description

This is obviously a warship of Earth registry predating ISS Enterprise NX-01.

Unnamed class II

General description

This class of Earth Starfleet ships also exists in the Mirror Universe.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

Starships of this class appeared in the opening credits of ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly I+II". The only visual difference lies in the yellow hull decoration of the Mirror Universe version.

D'Kyr type

General description

The D'Kyr type seems to have a counterpart in the Mirror Universe.

A number of Andorian starships, like some of the Tellarites and the Vulcans too, have joined the rebellion against the Terran Empire. It is conjecture but very likely that the Andorian class is named Kumari in the Mirror Universe too.

Assault vessel

General description

The assault vessel is apparently of Bajoran origin, a small ship with only moderate armament.
Gallery: Bajoran Starships

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

The Mirror version of the assault vessel appeared in DS9: "Through the Looking Glass". It is interesting to note that this ship type, obviously an originally Bajoran construction, was used by the Maquis or allied Bajorans in our universe (TNG: "Preemptive Strike") just like by the Terran rebels in the Mirror Universe.

Defiant

General description

Using plans stolen by "Smiley" O'Brien, a replica of Starfleet's USS Defiant was built by Terran rebels at Terok Nor. While the ship appears to have largely the same capabilities as its counterpart in our universe, it is unknown if there is a cloaking device.
Article: Defiant Problems

Known ships

ISS Defiant NX-74205

Annotations

  1. The ship played a key role in DS9: "Shattered Mirror". The Mirror Defiant's size compared to the Regent's flagship is no indicator for the size of any of the two ships, because the latter is considerably scaled up relative to any other vessel in the episode.
  2. Concerning the possible existence of a cloaking device on the Defiant, we need to take into account the huge continuity error about cloak in the Mirror Universe (see introductory remark to the Alliance ships below).
  3. Unlike the Defiant of "our" universe, the Mirror version does not appear to have a name, registry or any other markings on the hull. The dedication plaque on the bridge confirms that it is the "ISS Defiant NX-74205" though.

One of these fighters appeared in DS9: "Shattered Mirror", piloted by Bashir. I assume that the class name is just the same as of its counterpart in our universe (which is not entirely certain though).

Klingon-Cardassian Alliance

Note We know for sure from DS9: "Through the Looking Glass" that Alliance ships are capable of cloaking. Yet, the whole episode DS9: "The Emperor's New Cloak" is built upon the inexcusable misconception that there is no cloak at all in the Mirror Universe. It is a matter of preference which version is true, and this database does not list the cloak capabilities of the following vessels.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

The Mirror BoP's size compared to the Regent's flagship in DS9: "Shattered Mirror" is no indicator for the size of any of the two ships, because the latter is considerably scaled up relative to any other vessel in the episode. While the gigantic flagship leaves us no other choice, there is no reason to assume that the Mirror BoP is any other size than "our" BoP.

The Galor class is a widespread warship design of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance.

The design appeared in DS9: "Through the Looking Glass" and "Shattered Mirror". The name "Galor" is a guess, seeing that the design is identical to the Galor in our universe.

Known stations

Terok Nor

Annotations

Mirror Terok Nor seems to serve essentially the same purpose as our Terok Nor before the station was taken over by Bajorans and Starfleet. The Mirror version showed up in all DS9 Mirror Universe episodes. It was conquered by the Terran rebels some time prior to the episode "Shattered Mirror" (2372), but is listed here only once.

Regent's flagship

General description

This huge vessel is the flagship of Regent Worf since at least 2372.
Article: Variations of the Negh'Var
Vor'cha, Negh'Var & Various Gallery

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

The vessel could be seen in DS9: "Shattered Mirror" and "The Emperor's New Cloak". It is represented by the Negh'Var model in its DS9 configuration with the two additional engine pods and without the bow spikes. Quite obviously the Regent's ship is scaled up intentionally and meant to be a much larger ship than the Negh'Var and is therefore the only ship in the Mirror Universe that is substantially different from the version we know from our universe. The ship must be around 2km long, compared to the BoP, Galor and Defiant. The many rows of lights (10 in the main plane) in the close-up correspond with such a massive ship, but don't alleviate the general scaling problem. Like many things in the silly Mirror Universe, the similarity to "our" Negh'Var should be disregarded for the sake of plausibility; otherwise we would have to pretend to see a reasonably sized Negh'Var which is hard to maintain.

Ferengi

Large shuttle

General description

This is a small Ferengi vessel, somewhat larger than a standard shuttle.
Article: Variations of the Ferengi Shuttle

Known shuttles

No name given

Annotations

As stated in the entry of the large shuttle in our universe, if "Quark's Treasure" is inevitably larger than the 6m shuttlepod, the same should be true for other Ferengi shuttles without causing further damage. This is why I imagine that Mirror Brunt's shuttle from DS9: "The Emperor's New Cloak" is of that design too.

Tholian

22nd century ship

General description

The 22nd century Tholian starship also exists in the Mirror Universe. They are capable of spinning a web around an enemy ship through which they can fire their weapons but which is impervious to their victim.

Known ships

No name given

Annotations

Several of these vessels could be seen in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly I". Their size was consistent with the small ships of previous episodes.

Cargo shuttle

Drydock

General description

The drydock is large enough to hold a ship of the Constitution class.

Known stations

No name given

Annotations

There is nothing strange about this structure, although otherwise Tholian technology seems to be outlandish. Yet, it is remarkable that the Tholian drydock is the only notable spaceborne object of the Mirror Universe that was never seen in our universe. It is equipped with a magnatronic tractor beam.
